If Two Agree

Isaiah 55:9-11

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways

higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down; and the snow from heaven, and returneth

not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud,

that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my

word be that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but

it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing

whereto I sent it. (KJV)

Each day I receive prayer requests from two prayer groups I joined on the internet. I count myself blessed to be a part of them. Prayer is a privilege we take for granted  too often, because at our weakest point, God has given each of us a tool in which we find our greatest help in times of trouble. But, even greater is the fact that if we pray for one another before we get into trouble, we can avoid many attacks of the Satan.

Just think about it, if you will. The Word says, “If Two Agree.” So, think of the power of ten, to one hundred people all praying at the same time in one accord. Imagine how the power of God can and will move mountains!

Our son was eleven months old. I heard the words spoken in soft but firm tones telling me that there was little hope, if any for our precious son to live through the night. They said if he did live, he would have permanent brain damage due to the high fevers and the length of time the fever stayed spiked.

What started out as a cold, (or so I thought) turned in to flu symptoms, cough, high fever, and inconsolable crying. Nothing I did seemed to help. Nor did the medications the doctor had given him. He was finally admitted to the hospital, and after many tests, a spinal tap, and sleepless nights, it was determined he had spinal meningitis.

The doctors were doing all they could do. I did all that I could do. I sat by his bed day and night. I wept, prayed and prayed even more. However, I was determined not to accept the news the doctor had given us. I called everyone I could think of, and called my Church requesting prayer. I refused to accept negative thoughts to creep in to my mind that were against the promises of God. I determined to trust in God’s Word and his promises.

As morning broke, so did our son’s fever. I was awakened by a tiny voice calling out, “Mommy.” There in front of me stood a child who had been too weak to stand for days. He smiled as he hung on to the guardrail of the baby bed. Heaven came down on earth as the staff and I rejoiced at the miracle of God.

God moved in a mighty way, all because of people like you who were willing to make a difference by taking just a few moments to pray.

Oh yes, our son had no brain damage. If fact, he graduated at the top of his class. He’s now preaching the Word, and recording Christian music. All glory to God!
